LignUp Announces $5.9 Million Funding Round

Wasatch Venture Fund, vSpring Capital Lead Group of Investors Supporting LignUp Vision of Powering Innovation in Voice Over IP Applications

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA - April 11, 2005. LignUp Corporation, a provider of web services-based converged communications solutions, today announced the successful close of its Series A financing round. The $5.9 million round was co-led by Wasatch Venture Fund, an affiliate fund of Draper Fisher Jurvetson, and vSpring Capital, a leading early stage venture fund. Other investors included the University of Utah's University Venture Fund and the iOCS Venture Fund. The investment will support LignUp's expansion of operations and market penetration in the US, Europe and Asia-Pacific.

LignUp Corporation delivers a powerful Web services-based voice-over-IP (VoIP) communications platform deployed with IP-PBX, IP-Centrex, Voice Mail, Unified Messaging, and IVR Web applications. The proven LignUp Communications Platform, which is 100-percent software and based on the SIP industry standard, enables service providers to compete with a steady stream of innovative services and enables enterprises to compete with higher productivity business processes via converged voice-data solutions.

"LignUp makes VoIP application development as easy as web development; empowering any web developer out there to innovate with powerful new voice and presence driven apps," said Nick Efstratis, partner at Wasatch Venture Fund. "The LignUp platform is open and it works, driving LignUp's own suite of telephony apps as well as apps created by other developers. LignUp is the catalyst that is finally going to make the promise of VoIP applications a reality."

The close of LignUp's Series A represents the latest in a series of important milestones:

-- Establishment of LignUp in 2004, 6 US customer wins in the hosted telephony market and continued success in Japan with over 100 customers in the on-premise enterprise telephony market.

-- LignUp distributor SkyWave is named to the Pulver 100 list in October 2004, based on SkyWave's success with the LignUp Solution. SkyWave partners who sell the LignUp solution include NEC-SI, Net-One Systems, NTT-ME and Hitachi-IT.

-- LignUp wins the DISTREE EuroStart Award in January 2005 for delivering innovative VoIP solutions to European system integrators, network integrators and value added service providers.

"Japan is an advanced market for broadband technologies. LignUp's rapid progress in the US in these first few months shows that the company has been successful transferring the strong performance in Japan across the Pacific," said Scott Petty, managing partner at vSpring Capital. "In addition, LignUp's ability to rack up wins in both the on-premise and hosted enterprise telephony markets demonstrates the unique strength of the LignUp platform."

All LignUp components can be deployed on a single server or distributed, enabling the system to scale up and down as needed by customers, from enterprises to service providers. This is made possible by LignUp's rules-based, all-software component design. Each component in the LignUp platform can be clustered for fault tolerance and scaled separately as needed.

"We value both the financial and strategic support of our investors, who recognize our track record of success and endorse our market strategy and vision for opening up a world of VoIP innovation," said Hector Saldana, chairman and CEO of LignUp Corporation. "Our experience to date has shown us that customers want to decide - on their own - what they can do with VoIP and then move forward without development limitations, proprietary vendor roadblocks, or slow product roadmap delays. LignUp has responded with a flexible, standards and web services-based solution that allows enterprises and service providers to innovate, differentiate and better compete with VoIP technology."
