LignUp Names Strategic Advisory Board

"Father of DNS" and Veteran Silicon Valley Executive to Shape Future of LignUp and IP Telephony Communications

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- January 31, 2006. LignUp Corporation, a provider of converged communications solutions, today announced that Mark Iwanowski and Paul Mockapetris will serve as founding members of LignUp’s new strategic advisory board.

This group’s collective technical, management, marketing and strategic expertise will provide valuable counsel as LignUp extends and grows its operations and customer base across the Americas, Asia Pacific and Europe, and further evangelizes the LignUp Communications Platform as the premier platform for building voice-enabled applications and services for businesses.

"The formation of the LignUp advisory board represents another major step forward in making the web services based LignUp Communications Platform the industry standard platform for building IP telephony applications," said Hector Saldańa, founder, chairman and CEO at LignUp Corporation. "These individuals will play an active role in helping LignUp’s platform become essential among the next generation of Internet infrastructure solutions, enhancing LignUp’s leadership position in the marketplace and in the realm of world-class global IT services operations.”

Paul Mockapetris, Chairman & Chief Scientist, Nominum, Inc.

As the inventor of the Domain Naming System (DNS) and an active participant in the evolution of the Internet, Paul Mockapetris has applied his technical expertise to help several Internet businesses take flight. He was director of engineering and the second employee at @Home and held leadership roles at several other Silicon Valley networking startups, including Software.com (now OpenWave), Fiberlane (now Cisco) and Siara Systems (now Redback). In addition to his current role as Chairman and Chief Scientist at Nominum, Mr. Mockapetris also helps guide initiatives for DNS and ENUM. He was recently awarded the 2005 ACM Sigcomm Award and the 2003 IEEE Internet Award, and was the Chair of the IETF from 1994 to 1996.

“The story of the Internet is still very much ahead of us, and IP telephony communications will play a central role,” said Paul Mockapetris, chairman and chief scientist at Nominum, Inc. “LignUp’s web services platform allows enterprises and service providers to build the converged voice and data solutions that will shape what will be known as the next revolution in networking. I look forward to joining LignUp and to working to make this future possible.”

Mark Iwanowksi, Entrepreneur in Residence, Trident Capital

Before joining Trident Capital, Mark Iwanowski was Senior Vice President, Global IT for Oracle. He was responsible for managing over 1,500 people running Oracle’s IT systems in more than 100 countries around the globe. Prior to Oracle, Mr. Iwanowski managed a systems integration and outsourcing business for SAIC, the world's largest private system integrator.

“The convergence of voice and data communications presents one of the next great frontiers for the Internet Age,” said Mark Iwanowski, entrepreneur in residence, Trident Capital. “LignUp is blazing a trail with the innovative web services technologies that will drive this revolution.
