June 5, 2006, Santa Clara, CA - Through interoperability and certification with EdgeMarc routers and the EdgeView VoIP Support System, the Plug & Dial Alliance Program brings technology partners together to simplify and automate the delivery of VoIP for enterprises and service providers. Charter partners include: Acme Packet, Audiocodes, Broadsoft, LignUp, MiTel, Polycom, Siemens and Sylantro Systems.
Working with best-in-class technology partners, Edgewater Networks simplifies the setup of VoIP for service providers and enterprises Plug & Dial Benefits Edgewater Networks’ Plug & Dial Alliance Program provides interoperability testing for multi-vendor VoIP networking environments and automated setup of customer premises equipment including many brands of SIP-based IP phones. Using the EdgeView VoIP Support System and EdgeMarc routers, Edgewater Networks’ Plug & Dial solution reduces the complex, multi-step and error-prone process of router and IP phone setup to a virtually hands-free installation experience. In a hosted PBX or IP centrex environment users simply plug their IP phone into the LAN, enter their phone number and password guided by voice prompts from the EdgeView system. This information is used by EdgeView to seamlessly authenticate the user with the feature server. Upon successful authentication, the EdgeView system will generate the appropriate configuration files, install them on the router and IP phones, reboot the phones and then send notifications to upstream OSS systems. This level of automation dramatically reduces installation times from hours with the manual method to minutes using Plug & Dial capabilities. “In addition to providing the VoIP customer support tools that we’ve come to rely on, EdgeView now offers our Service Provider customers a way to significantly shorten installation time with Plug & Dial.
