Press Release LignUp Offer Developers Free Internet Phone Minutes to Build and Test VoIP Applications
LignUp CodeLign Program Builds on Level 3® Technology Alliance Program MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – MARCH 21, 2007. LignUp Corporation, a provider of converged communications solutions, today announced the rollout of its new beta CodeLign (CodeLign) developer program utilizing the Level 3 Communications network, which is one of the largest communications and Internet backbones in the world. Developers who participate in the CodeLign program and use the LignUp Communications Application Server will each get a credit for 600 free Internet phone minutes running on the Level 3 network to build and test their voice-over-IP (VoIP) enabled Web services, applications, mashups, TWikis (enterprise Wikis), and portals. The announcement is being made in conjunction with the Spring 2007 VON Conference being held at the San Jose Convention Center, March 19-22, 2007. CodeLign is designed to foster innovation in creating voice-enabled Web 2.0 portals and Web services by lowering the time and cost barriers for developers at start-ups and small businesses. It is open to qualified developers who are using the LignUp Communications Application Server. Based on a service-oriented architecture (SOA), the 100% software LignUp platform provides all the functionality needed through built-in call control, media control, presence, PBX, voicemail, and unified messaging capabilities exposed as Web Service APIs and VoIPLets™ to quickly create, voice-enabled applications, mashups, and Wikis. LignUp’s software is complemented by 600 minutes of free access to the Level 3 network that now provides Internet connectivity for millions of broadband subscribers around the world. The program is an extension of LignUp’s role as a member of the Level 3® Technology Alliance Program (TAP), which brings together industry-leading VoIP and data vendors to offer end users complete and tested solutions. "We are at the threshold of seeing a new generation of consumer services, ecommerce, and enterprise collaboration empowered by voice-enabled applications and services on the Web,” said Craig Schlagbaum, vice president of National Partner Sales and Programs for Level 3. “CodeLign’s participation in the Technology Alliance Program is a great example of the power of collaboration in the program. The program brings our global network and LignUp Communications Application Server within reach of developers, who will innovate new solutions with confidence that the voice-enabled services they build today will have the ability to scale with tremendous growth." CodeLign complements LignUp’s recent announcement about working with Amazon Web Services to use the Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) to power VoIP-enabled Web services, applications, mashups, and TWikis built using the LignUp Communications Application Server. Voice WAV files created by LignUp-based applications are stored and converted to MPEG-3 files on Amazon S3. By hosting LignUp’s developer environment in Amazon EC2, LignUp is able to scale its development platform quickly while lowering the developers’ costs to build applications. Together, the LignUp Communications Server, Level 3 network, and Amazon EC2 and S3 give developers a complete, scalable platform for delivering the voice-enabled Web-based solutions that will redefine tomorrow’s consumer and business experiences. “An important enabler for the emerging community of developers building voice-enabled Web services and applications is utility computing, which allows them to bring out solutions quickly while knowing they have the flexibility and scalability to support their customer demands as they grow,” said Kevin Nethercott, president and COO for LignUp Corporation. “Developers have the ideal utility computing platform for voice-enabled applications and services with Level 3’s global network and comprehensive services, the LignUp Communications Application Server and its hosted developer environment, and Amazon’s EC2 and S3 Web services. Now with CodeLign, taking advantage of this powerful utility computing platform is easier than ever.” Developers who want to learn more about the CodeLign program can visit LignUp at www.LignUp.com for more information. ### |
